What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your browser or device. They let a site recognize a browser over time. RAURA also uses similar technologies such as local storage, session storage, and pixels in some notifications or emails.

Some cookies last only while your browser is open. Others stay until they expire or you delete them.

Cookies can be set by RAURA (first-party) or by a provider helping us run the service (third-party), for example a push notification service.

Why we use cookies

Authentication. We use cookies so we can tell you are signed in as you move between Home, Chat, Notifications, and RAURA Foods.

Security. Cookies help us protect against request forgery, keep sessions from being reused carelessly, and apply rate limits.

Preferences. We may store theme, install, or notification choices on the device so the product feels the same the next time you open it.

Analytics on public pages. We may count visits to public posts or the About pages in a limited way so we know whether those pages are working.

Types of cookies we use

Strictly necessary cookies. These are required to sign in, load your account, and keep forms secure. The site will not work correctly without them.

Functional cookies. These remember choices such as a light or dark theme on product pages. The public About pages stay in a light layout so policy text is easy to read.

Analytics cookies. These help us understand aggregated use of public pages. They are not used to read your private chat.

Advertising cookies. If we run ads, we may use cookies as described in the Advertising Policy. You can control many of these in your browser.

How long cookies last

Session cookies are deleted when you close the browser, unless you asked RAURA to keep you signed in.

Persistent cookies have an expiry date. We set lifetimes that match the job of the cookie. A remember-me cookie lasts longer than a one-time security token.

If you clear your browser data, those cookies are removed and you may need to sign in again or reset preferences.

How you can manage cookies

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. If you block all cookies, you may not be able to sign in. You can usually allow cookies from RAURA and still block unrelated third parties.

Device settings on phones and computers may also let you reset advertising identifiers or limit cross-app tracking. Those controls are provided by the device, not by RAURA.

If you use RAURA from more than one browser, you will need to set your cookie preferences in each one.

Similar technologies

Local storage and similar browser storage may hold draft posts, offline copies of recent feeds, or notification state so RAURA can work when a connection is slow.

A service worker may cache pages and assets for the lite-app. That cache is on your device. Clearing site data removes it.

Push subscriptions are stored with your account after you turn on device notifications. They are not cookies, but they are another device identifier we use only to deliver alerts you asked for.

Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this policy when we add features or when the law requires a clearer explanation. The date at the top will change.
